David Hill – Apprentice
David Hill first joined us at Bolton Gate Services in 2019 as a Trainee Engineer. In October 2021, he was placed onto the Apprenticeship Scheme. He has been working hard throughout the course of the apprenticeship, which he hopes to complete soon, to build up his skills and his college portfolio.
David was originally interested in the Bolton Gate Services Apprenticeship Scheme as he knew it could help “better my career”. He was surprised initially at “how in-depth the course is on the automatic doors” but has learnt a great deal due to the thoroughness of the apprenticeship.
So far on his journey with us, David has been educated on many different aspects of the job, from working on our roller shutters and barriers to gates and now our automatic doors. When asked the best thing he has learned so far in the apprenticeship, David replied, “fitting operators to powered pedestrian doors, shadowed with another Bolton Gate Services colleague”.
He was proud to upload this to his college portfolio, which shows off the wide range of skills he has picked up on his apprenticeship journey with us.
There are many aspects of working with us that David enjoys, but he most likes how every colleague works together as a team. “They don’t mind teaching me on how to carry out the tasks we are set,” he says of the team. Once he has completed his apprenticeship with us, David hopes to take on many more courses to better his career.
When asked why someone should join the Bolton Gate Services Apprenticeship Scheme, David notes that “you will gain more qualifications and better your career within the door game”.
